READY IN 10 minutes
SERVES 2
INGREDIENTS
- 2 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon of finely grated lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
- ¼ teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon of minced garlic
- 2 (8 ounce) fresh tuna steaks
- Extra virgin olive oil for brushing
- Salt to taste.
INSTRUCTIONS
In a small bowl, combine the butter, lemon zest, lemon juice, pepper, and minced garlic, stirring lightly with a spoon. Then, set the mixture aside until the steaks are fully cooked. We recommend placing the mixture in the refrigerator while you wait. Now, set your burner to medium-high heat before brushing the Extra Virgin olive oil directly onto the pan with a basting brush. Brush the residue onto both sides of your tuna steak. Hosting a dinner party this weekend? Try these Brown Sugar Bacon Wrapped Scallops
Note If you do not have a basting brush, you can also drizzle the olive oil onto the pan and lightly tilt the pan back and forth to spread the oil. Searching for healthy dinner ideas? Check out this Grilled Mahi Mahi with Avocado Chile Salsa
Add salt and pepper to each side of your tuna steaks and prepare for grilling. You will want to grill your steaks for an average of 3-4 minutes on each side to bring your steaks to a medium rare. Once your tuna steaks are ready to plate, use the basting brush or a small spoon to add the chilled butter mixture, and voilà! Fresh, pan-seared tuna steaks in a matter of minutes. PAIRING OPTIONS
Pan-seared tuna steaks are great on their own, but we love pairing them with a fresh arugula salad topped with a garlic vinaigrette, or side of roasted lemon potatoes. Luckily, seafood is extremely versatile and goes well with almost anything.
